
The Byzantine Roman Period – The Mishnah and Talmudic Period
132 – 135 CE – Bar Kochba Revolt. Hebron was in the center of the revolt area.
330 – Byzantine occupation. A church is being built in the eastern part of the building above the Cave of the Patriarchs. An active Jewish synagogue in its northern part.
Centuries 4-6: Jews continue to pray in the Cave of the Patriarchs and at the Aloni Mamra site. Jewish communities flourish in the southern Hebron Mountains.
