The Ancient Cemetery Of Hebron

Over the generations, many saintly Jewish personalities and kabbalists (mystics), noted for the famous books that they wrote, lived and were buried in Hebron. Their grave markers at the kabbalists plot of the cemetery are special sites for visitation and prayer. Those interred there include Rabbi Eliyahu de Vidas, author of Reshit Chochmah, Rabbi Abraham Azulai, author of Chesed LeAvraham, Rabbi Shlomo Adani, author of Melechet Shlomo, Rabbi Chaim Hezekiah Medini, author of Sde Hemed, and Rabbi Eliyahu Mani, to name only a few. Bulldozed during the Jordanian period, today the gravestones have been refurbished and the plots are in use by the modern community. The annual memorial for the 1929 massacre takes place here.
